Private galleries
A creator's own gallery of designs that only the people they invite can open. For people who teach or publish with LCD Wizard, and for their audiences.
Creator accounts are by invitation. They are set up by us for people who make videos, courses or kits around LCD Wizard. If that is you, write to admin@lcdwizard.online. Anybody with an account can be a member of a private gallery.
What it is
The public gallery is open to everybody. A private gallery is the opposite: its designs are listed nowhere, and only its creator and the members they have let in can see or open them.
The creator decides who gets in and how. Many will tie it to something they already run, such as a membership, a course or a shop. LCD Wizard keeps the door and nothing else: it takes no payment for access, does not know who has paid a creator, and is not part of that sale. The private gallery terms set this out for both sides.
Joining one
A creator gives you an invite link. Open it, and the designer shows you whose gallery it is, how many designs are in it and what the creator will see about you, before it asks for anything.
- You have an account: press Join. Your account is a member from that moment.
- You do not: register or sign in from the invitation. The invitation is kept while you do, and a new account made through it is a member as soon as it exists, whichever device you confirm your email address on.
After that the gallery is under Private galleries in the account menu.
Some links are for one person, or for a set number. If a link says it has been used up, ask the creator for another.
Opening a design
Open a design to read its description and notes, then Open a copy in my projects. The copy is an ordinary project in your account: change it, generate code from it, flash it. Generating uses your own allowance, credits or plan, as it does for any project.
A copy is for your own use unless the creator's description says otherwise, and it cannot be published to the public gallery. Copies you have taken stay with you if your access ends.
What each side sees
| The creator sees | The creator does not see |
|---|---|
| Your display name. Until you set one in Edit profile, that is the part of your email address before the @. | Your email address. |
| The day you joined and which invite link you used. | Your other projects, or anything you do with a copy. |
| For each design: how often it was looked at, how many copies were taken, how many of those generated code. | Which member did any of those. |
A member sees the gallery's name, the creator's name, and the designs. Not the other members, and not the figures.
Leaving, and being removed
You can leave from the gallery itself. A creator can remove a member at any time. Somebody who left may come back through an invite link; somebody the creator removed cannot, until the creator puts them back.
For creators
Everything is in Creator dashboard, in the account menu. A creator account also has everything Pro has.
Designs
Open the project in the designer, then Designs > Add to my private gallery. What goes in is a copy of the saved project, exactly as publishing to the public gallery works: members keep seeing that version until you press Update. An API key typed into a widget is taken out of the copy. Hide takes a design out of members' view without removing it.
Invite links
Make as many as you like. Each has a label only you see, and an optional limit on how many people can join through it.
- One link for a tier. Post it where your paying members can see it. Simple, but anybody who gets hold of the link can use it, and the member list shows only display names.
- One link per buyer. Set People per link to 1 and make a batch. Label each with the buyer's name, and the member list tells you exactly who joined.
Switching a link off stops anybody new coming through it. People who already joined keep their access until you remove them.
Members
The list shows a display name, the day they joined and the link they came through, with Remove and Put back. Removing somebody does not take away the copies they already have.
A public page
In Settings you can give the gallery an address and switch on a public page at
lcdwizard.com/c/your-name. It is the shop window: the gallery's name and description,
where to get access, and each design as a locked card with its title, a few lines, what it runs on
and a picture of its first screen. Nobody can open a design from it, and a design you have hidden
is not on it. You can switch the pictures off and leave the titles. Somebody who is already a member
is recognised and sent straight to the gallery.
The link under Where people get access is the page's main button, so set it to wherever you sell access.
A classroom
A creator account can also open a classroom on any saved project: a link that lets any number of people watch you work, live, with no account, and a delay you set to match your stream. It is under File > Share with a client, as the fourth kind of link.
The figures
The overview shows members and when they joined, what each design in the gallery has had looked at, copied and built, the same for your designs in the public gallery, and what your referral link has brought in.
What it cannot do
It cannot stop a determined member passing a design on. To generate code from a design a member has to be given all of it. Copies are marked with the gallery they came from and cannot be published to the public gallery by anybody but you, which discourages casual republishing and is not copy protection.
