Terms of use

What you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and who owns what. The generated code is yours - that part is not negotiable.

Agreement

These terms apply to lcdwizard.com, the designer at app.lcdwizard.com and everything they serve. Using the service means accepting them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

In these terms, "we" and "us" means lcdwizard.online, of 77 Forrestal Street, Edzell Woods, Scotland, DD9 7XG, contactable at admin@lcdwizard.online. "You" means whoever is using the service - and where you are using it for an employer or client, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms on their behalf.

What the service does

LCD Wizard is a browser-based designer for LVGL user interfaces. You lay out screens, describe your hardware, and it generates an Arduino or PlatformIO project - the sketch, the driver configuration, lv_conf.h and the LVGL UI sources - which you then compile and flash yourself.

We may change, add to or remove features. If we withdraw something you have paid for outright, we will tell account holders by email first.

Your account

• You need a working email address, and you need to confirm it before the designer will generate code for you.
• One person per account. Do not share credentials. If you need seats for a team, see Commercial and volume use below.
• Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
• You can delete your account at any time from the designer. That removes your saved projects, your published designs and your comments.

What you may not do

• Break the law with it, or use it to build something whose purpose is to break the law.
• Work around the metering: farming guest allowances, scripting account creation, sharing one account across a team, or tampering with the client to ask for generations you have not been given.
• Attack the service - scanning for holes, flooding it with requests, or trying to reach data that is not yours. Responsible security research is welcome, and the way to do it is to tell us first.
• Publish anything to the gallery that is not yours to publish, or that is unlawful, abusive or deliberately misleading about what it does.
• Scrape the site in bulk. The hardware catalogue is a public API for the designer's benefit, not a dataset to be lifted wholesale.
• Resell the service itself, or present it as your own product.

Who owns what

Your designs

You keep every right in the designs you make. We claim no ownership of them. We store them so you can open them again and, when you publish, so other people can see them - and we need a licence to do that much, limited to hosting, displaying and backing up your content for the purpose of running the service. It ends when you delete the content.

The code the generator writes

The generated project is yours outright. Use it in personal, commercial or closed-source work. No attribution, no royalty, no obligation to tell us. This is a tool that writes code for you, and the output belongs to the person who asked for it.

The generated project depends on third-party libraries - LVGL, TFT_eSPI, LovyanGFX, the various sensor libraries - which carry their own licences. Those are listed in the LIBRARIES.md that ships with every export, and it is on you to comply with them. LVGL itself is MIT licensed.

The gallery

Publishing a design makes it public and lets any visitor take a copy of it, whether or not they have an account - that is the point of the gallery. By publishing, you grant everyone a licence to use and adapt that design freely, and you confirm it is yours to give. If you do not want that, do not publish; saved projects stay private.

You can unpublish at any time. Copies already taken by other people remain theirs.

The service itself

The designer, the site, the hardware catalogue and the code generator remain ours. Nothing here gives you a right to copy or redistribute them.

Paying for it

• Nothing renews. There is no subscription on this service. Every purchase is one-off and will not bill you again.
• A generation is one successful build of a project's source. A build that fails validation is never counted. Downloading the zip of a build you have just generated is part of the same generation.
• The free allowance resets on a rolling 30-day window from your first generation of the period. Without an account you get a smaller, lifetime allowance counted against your connection - see the Privacy policy for what that means in practice.
• Credits are bought in packs, do not expire, and are spent only once the free allowance for the period is used up.
• Pro is a one-off purchase that removes the generation limit and raises the storage limits. It does not expire and does not renew.
• Prices are shown excluding tax where tax applies; Stripe adds what is due at checkout based on where you are.

Refunds

If a generation produces code that does not compile as delivered, tell us and we will credit it back. If you bought Pro or a credit pack and have not used it, ask within 14 days and we will refund it. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of purchase, which by starting to use a generation immediately you may be asked to waive - and which these terms do not take away.

Commercial and volume use

The standard plans are priced for one person. If you are a company, a lab or a university and you need something they do not cover - seats for a team, a purchase order and an invoice rather than a card, a volume allowance, self-hosting inside your own network, or an arrangement with terms your procurement people can sign - talk to us.

Write to admin@lcdwizard.online with a rough idea of how many people and how much use, and you will get a real answer from a person rather than a form.

No warranty, and the hardware point

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, that generated code will compile in every toolchain version, or that it will be fit for any particular purpose. Nothing here is safety-certified. Do not use output from this service in anything where a failure could injure somebody or cause significant damage without qualified review of your own.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, for lost or corrupted data, or for damage to hardware. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before it arose, or £50 if that is greater.

Availability, suspension and ending

We aim to keep the service up but do not promise a level of availability. Maintenance and faults will interrupt it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why. Where the breach is minor and fixable, we will ask first. If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund any unused purchase.

You can stop at any time by deleting your account.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and material changes are emailed to account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting the new version.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EEA, this does not deprive you of the protection of your local mandatory law, or of the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
