Terms of use

What you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and who owns what. The generated code is yours - that part is not negotiable.

Agreement

These terms apply to lcdwizard.com, the designer at app.lcdwizard.com and everything they serve. Using the service means accepting them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

In these terms, "we" and "us" means lcdwizard.com, of 77 Forrestal Street, Edzell Woods, Scotland, DD9 7XG, contactable at admin@lcdwizard.com. "You" means whoever is using the service - and where you are using it for an employer or client, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms on their behalf.

Last updated 22 October 2026. This version takes effect on 1 November 2026, after account holders have been told of it by email; the version before it applies until then.

What the service does

LCD Wizard is a browser-based designer for LVGL user interfaces. You lay out screens, describe your hardware, and it generates a project for the toolchain you chose when you started the design: an Arduino or PlatformIO project - the sketch, the driver configuration, lv_conf.h and the LVGL UI sources - a MicroPython project, or an ESPHome configuration. You then build and flash it yourself.

We may change, add to or remove features. If we withdraw something you have paid for outright, we will tell account holders by email first.

Your account

• You need a working email address, and you need to confirm it before the designer will generate code for you.
• One person per account. Do not share credentials. If you need seats for a team, see Commercial and volume use below.
• Pro is personal to the person who bought it. It belongs to the account it was bought on and cannot be transferred. Selling, renting, giving away or otherwise passing on an account that has Pro, or its sign-in details, to anyone else is a breach of these terms, and the Pro on that account is forfeited without a refund.
• An account can be signed in on two devices (browsers) at a time. Signing in on another means choosing one of the two to sign out. That can be done five times in 30 days; after that, contact us and we will sort it out. What we keep about the devices is in the privacy policy.
• Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
• You can delete your account at any time, from Edit profile in the designer's account menu. That deletes your saved projects, the designs you published with the likes and comments on them, and your own likes and comments. Pro and any unused credits belong to the account, so they go with it and cannot be moved to another. Problem reports you sent and payment records are kept, as the privacy policy sets out, and a copy somebody else has already taken of a design you published stays theirs. What you wrote in the forum stays, shown as by "Deleted user"; delete anything you do not want to stay first. The pictures and clips you posted there are deleted with the account. Referral commission you have already earned is not lost. It is still paid on its due date, as the affiliate terms set out.

Storage

Each account has one storage allowance for everything it keeps with us: saved projects, their version history, gallery copies, saved boards and the pictures and clips it posts on the forum, with each picture and font counted once however many of them use it. It is 20 MB on the free plan and 100 MB with Pro. A single design can be 8 MB at most, pictures included, on any plan.

• When a save would take an account over its allowance, the oldest saves in version history are removed first, from any of its projects, to make room. Checkpoints, and the newest version of every project, are never removed this way.
• If that is still not enough, the save is refused and you are told how much room it needs. The design is not lost: it stays in the designer and in your browser.
• Nothing you already have is deleted to bring an account under its allowance. If we lower an allowance, an account over it keeps what it has and simply cannot grow until it is under again.
• The pictures and fonts in your designs are stored with our storage provider, and the service's database is backed up every night, encrypted. The privacy policy says where, and for how long.

What you may not do

• Break the law with it, or use it to build something whose purpose is to break the law.
• Work around the metering: farming guest allowances, scripting account creation, sharing one account across a team, or tampering with the client to ask for generations you have not been given.
• Attack the service - scanning for holes, flooding it with requests, or trying to reach data that is not yours. Responsible security research is welcome, and the way to do it is to tell us first.
• Publish anything to the gallery that is not yours to publish, or that is unlawful, abusive or deliberately misleading about what it does.
• Scrape the site in bulk. The hardware catalogue is a public API for the designer's benefit, not a dataset to be lifted wholesale.
• Resell the service itself, or present it as your own product.
• Sell, rent or give away your account, or the Pro on it - see Your account.

Who owns what

Your designs

You keep every right in the designs you make. We claim no ownership of them. We store them so you can open them again and, when you publish, so other people can see them - and we need a licence to do that much, limited to hosting, displaying and backing up your content for the purpose of running the service. It ends when you delete the content, except that encrypted backups made before you deleted it keep it until they expire, at most twelve months later, and are used only to recover the service after a loss.

The code the generator writes

The generated project is yours outright. Use it in personal, commercial or closed-source work. No attribution, no royalty, no obligation to tell us. This is a tool that writes code for you, and the output belongs to the person who asked for it.

The generated project depends on third-party libraries - LVGL, TFT_eSPI, LovyanGFX, the various sensor libraries - which carry their own licences. Those are listed in the LIBRARIES.md that ships with every export, and it is on you to comply with them. LVGL itself is MIT licensed.

The gallery

Publishing a design makes it public and lets any visitor take a copy of it, whether or not they have an account - that is the point of the gallery. By publishing, you grant everyone a licence to use and adapt that design freely, and you confirm it is yours to give. If you do not want that, do not publish; saved projects stay private.

You can unpublish at any time. Copies already taken by other people remain theirs.

The service itself

The designer, the site, the hardware catalogue and the code generator remain ours. Nothing here gives you a right to copy or redistribute them.

Sharing a design privately

A project saved to your account can be shared by a private link. That is not publishing: nothing appears in the gallery, and only somebody who holds the link can open it. You choose what each link allows - seeing a working preview, commenting on it, or working on the project itself - and you can switch a link off at any time, at once.

• A link works for whoever has it. Who you send it to, and who they pass it to, is yours to manage. Switch off a link you no longer trust.
• Somebody with an Edit link can change and save your project. You stay responsible for the project and for what you let other people do to it.
• What a visitor writes is kept with the project until you delete it or the project. A visitor is asked for a name to sign a comment with and for nothing else; do not use comments to collect anything more from them.
• A key stored in a design is never sent to somebody opening a link, whichever kind of link it is.
• Anybody who opens a link is using the service, and these terms apply to them as they do to you.

The forum

The forum at lcdwizard.com/forum is for people with an LCD Wizard account: asking for help, reporting a problem with a board, sharing ideas and showing what you have made.

• Every signed-in member can read it. It is not public, but it is not private either: do not post passwords, keys, tokens, payment details or anybody's personal information.
• You keep the rights to what you post, and you let us and other members read, quote and reply to it there.
• The rules for community spaces below apply to it, and so does our moderation: we may edit a thread's title, move, pin or lock a thread, delete a post, or delete a thread or a section with everything in it.
• Pictures and clips. A thread's opening post, and every part of a tutorial, can carry JPEG, PNG or WebP pictures and clips of up to ten seconds. Post only what you have the right to post, and nothing that shows a person who has not agreed to it. They count towards your storage, and we may remove one, or the post or thread it is in. Where a photo was taken and what camera took it are removed before it is kept, but what a picture shows stays in it.
• Tutorials are posted with the tutorial builder, in the sections that offer it, in one layout. A board you choose from the site's list is shown with its page and, where its maker has a programme with us, a purchase link that may earn us a commission, marked as such. Wiring copied from one of your projects is copied onto the post for every member to read.
• Reactions and reputation. You can like, dislike or react with a face to other people's posts, not your own. Your reputation is the likes on your posts less the dislikes; those from an account less than a day old are shown but not counted. Liking or disliking to push somebody's reputation up or down, rather than for what they wrote, is misuse: an admin may undo such likes or dislikes, and each one undone costs the member who gave it a point of their own reputation.
• Deleting a post keeps its place in the thread and replaces its words with a line saying who deleted it; its pictures, clips and reactions go with them. Deleting your account leaves what you wrote, shown as by "Deleted user", and deletes your pictures, clips and reactions.
• For a fault you need an answer to, use Report a problem in the designer.

Our Discord server and other community spaces

We run a Discord server, and may run other places like it, where people who use LCD Wizard can ask questions, show what they have made and hear what has changed. Joining is optional, and nothing in the service depends on it.

• It runs on somebody else's platform. Discord's own terms and privacy policy apply to your Discord account and to everything you post there, alongside these terms. We do not control Discord and are not responsible for it being available.
• What you post is seen by other members and may stay visible after you leave. Do not post passwords, keys, tokens, payment details or anybody's personal information. You keep the rights to what you post, and you let us and other members read, quote and reply to it there.
• Be decent. No harassment, hate, spam, advertising without permission, unlawful content, or sharing of other people's work without the right to. The rules posted in the space apply as well.
• We moderate it. We and the moderators we appoint may remove a post, limit what a member can do, or remove a member, where we judge the rules or these terms have been broken. Being removed from a community space does not by itself close your LCD Wizard account or take away anything you have paid for.
• Linking your account is your choice. You can link your Discord account to your LCD Wizard account so that the server shows a role that matches your account - for example that it is on Pro, or that you have supported the project. The role follows the account: it is added and taken away as the account changes, and unlinking removes it. A role is a label and a way into some channels; it is not a purchase and has no value of its own. Roles, channels and what they open may change.
• Help given there is given informally. What another member tells you is their own view and not ours. What we say there is offered in good faith, and the "No warranty, and the hardware point" section below applies to it as it does to the service. For a fault you need an answer to, use Report a problem in the designer.
• We may close or change a community space at any time.

Paying for it

• Nothing renews. There is no subscription on this service. Every purchase is one-off and will not bill you again.
• A generation is one successful build of a project's source. A build that fails validation is never counted. Downloading the zip of a build you have just generated is part of the same generation.
• The free allowance resets on a rolling 30-day window from your first generation of the period. Without an account you get a smaller, lifetime allowance counted against your connection - see the Privacy policy for what that means in practice.
• Credits are bought in packs, do not expire, and are spent only once the free allowance for the period is used up.
• Pro (lifetime) is a one-off purchase that removes the generation limit, raises the storage limits and adds the tools the pricing page lists under Pro. It does not expire and does not renew. Anything you make with those tools stays yours, and keeps opening and exporting for as long as you have lifetime Pro.
• Pro for a limited time - the Pro month pass, and any promotional, trial or other Pro plan shorter than lifetime - gives you Pro until the date shown on your account, and then ends. It is a one-off purchase and does not renew. When it ends, your account returns to the free plan: your designs stay yours and keep opening, and firmware you have already built and flashed is yours to keep, but designs that use Pro features can no longer be generated or exported until you have Pro again, and generations count against the free allowance.
• Prices are shown excluding tax where tax applies; Stripe adds what is due at checkout based on where you are.

Refunds

If a generation produces code that does not compile as delivered, tell us and we will credit it back. If you bought Pro or a credit pack and have not used it, ask within 14 days and we will refund it. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of purchase, which by starting to use a generation immediately you may be asked to waive - and which these terms do not take away.

Commercial and volume use

The standard plans are priced for one person. If you are a company, a lab or a university and you need something they do not cover - seats for a team, a purchase order and an invoice rather than a card, a volume allowance, self-hosting inside your own network, or an arrangement with terms your procurement people can sign - talk to us.

Write to admin@lcdwizard.com with a rough idea of how many people and how much use, and you will get a real answer from a person rather than a form.

No warranty, and the hardware point

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, that generated code will compile in every toolchain version, or that it will be fit for any particular purpose. Nothing here is safety-certified. Do not use output from this service in anything where a failure could injure somebody or cause significant damage without qualified review of your own.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, for lost or corrupted data, or for damage to hardware. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before it arose, or £50 if that is greater.

Availability, suspension and ending

We aim to keep the service up but do not promise a level of availability. Maintenance and faults will interrupt it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why. Where the breach is minor and fixable, we will ask first. If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund any unused purchase.

You can stop at any time by deleting your account, which takes effect at once and cannot be undone.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and material changes are emailed to account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting the new version.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EEA, this does not deprive you of the protection of your local mandatory law, or of the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
