Affiliate terms

There are two referral programmes. One pays in credits and anyone can use it. The other pays cash, and it is deliberately harder to get into.

Version 2026-09-18. These terms form the agreement between you and LCD Wizard when you take part in either programme.

1. What the words mean

You are the holder of a registered LCD Wizard account with a confirmed email address. We are LCD Wizard. Your referral code is the single code issued to your account; it is used both as the ?ref= on your invite link and, if you join the cash programme, as your discount code. A qualifying purchase is a completed, non-refunded purchase of Pro made by somebody other than you, using your discount code.

2. The invite programme

Anyone with an account may share their invite link. When somebody registers a new account through it, that signup is attributed to you. Once that account has bought two packs of credits, 30 credits are added to your account and 30 to theirs.

Registering is free, so the reward is not for a registration - it is for bringing somebody who turns out to be a real customer. An email address is the one thing that can be manufactured in bulk; two purchases cannot.

• Each account can be referred once, by one referrer, and the reward is paid once.
• You cannot refer yourself, and an account that is found to be a duplicate of an existing one is not a signup.
• Credits are the same credits the site sells. They do not expire, and they have no cash value: they can be spent on generations and on nothing else.
• There is no limit on how many people you may invite.

3. Who may join the cash programme

The cash programme is not open to every account. To join, you must have at least three published gallery designs, and each of those three must have:

• at least 20 likes, and
• at least 10 clones that were built - that is, ten separate people who took a copy of your design and then generated code from it.

Clones that were never built do not count. This is deliberate: a clone is one click, whereas generating code consumes the person's own metered allowance, so the second number is a far better measure of whether a design was genuinely useful to somebody. Anonymous clones cannot be counted at all, because they never become a saved project.

We may change these thresholds. Doing so does not remove a code that has already been issued.

We may also invite somebody who has not met this bar - a reviewer, a well-known builder, somebody with an audience and no gallery here. An invitation waives this section and adds 100 credits to the account as a thank-you for the time it takes to look at the product. It waives nothing else: an invited affiliate agrees to these terms and supplies proof of promotion exactly as anybody else does.

4. Your discount code

On joining, we issue you a discount code giving 25% off Pro. It applies to Pro only - not to credit packs - and can be used by any number of people, once each.

A code has a status:

• Generated. The code works and your audience can use it. Commission from sales accrues to your account, but nothing can be paid out.
• Live. You have given us at least one link to a video, post, review or other public page that uses the code, and we have checked it. Payouts are possible.

Commission accrues either way. If your code goes live in March, the sales it made in February are still yours.

5. Showing where you promote it

Before any money is paid, you must supply at least one link to a place the code is publicly promoted, and a person here must check it and accept it. You may add several links; each is reviewed on its own.

We will accept a link that plainly shows your code being offered to an audience. We will turn one down if the code does not appear, if the page is private or deleted, if the page is not yours, or if the promotion misrepresents what LCD Wizard does. A rejection is not a ban: correct the problem and add the link again.

This requirement exists because a discount code with no promotion behind it is not affiliate marketing - it is a private discount, and the 25% comes out of the same pocket either way.

This applies to everybody, including affiliates we invited. We may waive the requirement in section 3 for somebody we ask to join - that is about published designs, and an invitation is us saying we already know what you make. It does not waive this one: an invited affiliate supplies a link and has it checked before any money is paid, exactly as anybody else does.

6. What you earn

You earn 10% of the amount actually paid on each qualifying purchase, before tax and after your discount has been applied.

Worked through, at the current price: Pro is £49.99. With your 25% off, the buyer pays £37.49 excluding tax. Your commission is £3.75. If the price or the percentages change, the figures that applied on the date of the purchase are the ones that count.

Sales tax or VAT collected at checkout is not part of the amount commission is calculated on. That money is remitted to a tax authority and was never revenue.

You do not earn commission on a purchase you make yourself, or on one made by an account we reasonably believe to be under your control.

7. The 28-day hold

Commission is held for 28 days from the date of the purchase. During that period it appears in your dashboard as accruing, and it cannot be requested or paid.

The reason is straightforward: a purchase can be refunded or charged back after the fact. Without a hold, somebody could buy through their own code, take the commission and then reverse the purchase - and the money would already be gone. The hold gives a refund time to arrive before any payment leaves.

If a purchase is refunded or disputed at any point before the commission has been paid, the commission for it is voided. Your dashboard shows it as void rather than simply removing it, so the change is visible and accountable.

8. Getting paid

• You request a payout from your affiliate dashboard. Requesting collects everything that has finished its 28-day hold into a single request.
• Your code must be live, and you must have supplied a PayPal address.
• Payout requests are processed within 5 working days of being requested.
• Payment is made in the currency the sales were made in, by PayPal, to the address held on your account at the time you requested it. Changing the address afterwards does not redirect a request already made.
• Any PayPal fee, currency conversion, or charge levied by your own bank or payment provider is yours.
• If a request is turned down, the earnings return to your balance - they are not lost - and we will say why.

9. Tax

Commission is income. You are responsible for declaring it and for any tax, social contribution or reporting obligation that applies where you live. We do not withhold tax and we do not provide tax advice. Nothing in these terms makes you an employee, agent, partner or joint venturer of LCD Wizard.

10. What you may and may not do

Do

• Say that it is an affiliate link or code. Where you live this is very likely a legal requirement, not a courtesy - the UK's CAP Code, the FTC's endorsement guides and their equivalents all require a disclosure that a reader cannot miss. "I earn a commission if you use this code" in the body of the post, not buried in a description three clicks away.
• Show the product honestly, including what it does not do. A design that took you an afternoon should look like it took an afternoon.
• Use your own words, your own screenshots and your own designs.
• Keep your posts up. A link we accepted and that then disappears is a code with nothing behind it.
• Tell us if your PayPal address changes, before you request a payout rather than after.

Do not

• Offer anyone cash, rebates, gift cards, points, prize draws or anything else of value for using your code. The discount is the incentive. Paying somebody out of your commission to make a purchase turns a referral into a transaction between you and them, and it is the single most common way these schemes are abused.
• Buy through your own code, or arrange for somebody else to buy on your behalf and pass the purchase to you.
• Create accounts, or ask other people to create accounts, in order to claim invite credits.
• Post the code to coupon, voucher, deal or discount-aggregator sites, or to any "working codes" listing. The code is for your own audience.
• Bid on "LCD Wizard", our domain, or misspellings and variations of either, in paid search; or point paid traffic straight at our site through your code.
• Register a domain, social handle, channel or page name that could be taken for an official one, or present yourself as LCD Wizard, its support, or its staff.
• Send unsolicited bulk email or messages, or post where the venue's rules forbid promotion or affiliate links.
• Use cookie stuffing, forced clicks, hidden frames, automatic redirects, pop-unders, browser extensions or anything else that attributes a referral the person did not knowingly make.
• Write fake reviews, invent testimonials, fabricate results, or claim features, compatibility or outcomes the product does not have.
• Place the code alongside adult, hateful, violent, harassing or illegal material, or anything aimed at children.
• Alter the code, make variations of it, or pass it off as a general public discount rather than your own affiliate code.
• Use our name, logo or screenshots in a way that implies we endorse, sponsor or have reviewed what you have made.
• Buy in bulk through the code to resell, or use it for anything other than a genuine purchase by the person making it.

This list is not exhaustive. If something is plainly an attempt to manufacture referrals rather than to recommend the product, treat it as being on the list.

11. When commission is voided

A commission is voided - cancelled before it is paid - in any of the following cases. Your dashboard shows a voided row and the reason rather than quietly removing it, so you can see what happened and query it.

• The purchase was refunded, in full or in part, for any reason including a cooling-off or statutory cancellation right.
• The payment was charged back or disputed, or reversed by the card issuer or PayPal, whether or not the dispute is resolved in our favour.
• The payment failed after the fact, or was made with a card later reported stolen or fraudulent.
• You made the purchase, or it was made by an account we reasonably believe to be yours or under your control, or by somebody in your household.
• The buyer was paid, rebated or otherwise given something of value by you for using the code.
• The referral was manufactured - cookie stuffing, forced clicks, automated traffic, or any attribution the buyer did not knowingly make.
• The code was promoted in a way section 10 forbids, including on a coupon-aggregator site or through paid search on our name.
• The account that bought it was closed for a breach of our terms of use.
• It was a duplicate or test transaction, or a purchase that Stripe reports as incomplete.

Voiding removes the commission for that sale only. Where the reason is a breach of section 10 rather than an ordinary refund, we may also void everything unpaid and end your participation - see below.

Money that has already been paid is not clawed back. That is what the 28-day hold is for: it gives these reasons time to surface before anything leaves.

12. Ending it

You may leave either programme at any time. We may withdraw a discount code, suspend participation, or end either programme, on notice to the address on your account.

If we end your participation for a reason in section 10, all unpaid commission is forfeited. If we end it for any other reason - including closing the programme - anything that has completed its hold is still paid.

Credits already awarded under the invite programme are not withdrawn.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms are versioned. If they change in a way that affects what is owed or how it is earned, you will be asked to read and agree to the new version before continuing in the cash programme. Commission earned under a previous version is paid under the terms that applied when it was earned.

14. General

The site's ordinary terms of use and privacy policy apply alongside these. Where they conflict on a question about referrals, this document is the one that governs.

We keep, and rely on, our own records of clicks, signups, purchases and refunds in determining what is owed. If you believe a figure is wrong, write to us and we will look at it properly.

Nothing here limits your rights under any law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
