M5Stack Core2 v1.1 (AXP2101)
2.0" 320x240 ILI9342C with FT6336U touch. The Core2 v1.1: its panel's supply, reset and backlight are the AXP2101's.

Building for it
A project is made for one toolchain, picked when you start it. For this board you can use three of the four:
| Toolchain | |
|---|---|
| Arduino (C++) | Every board, every widget and every peripheral here. The most control, and the most to set up. Start a project |
| MicroPython | Change a screen by editing a file on the board. No compiler once it is flashed. Start a project |
| ESPHome | A line it sets before the panel is Power ALDO4, a supply of its power chip. A panel reset, or a line set before the panel, that is a supply of the power chip is switched by the Arduino, ESP-IDF and MicroPython exports; ESPHome has no component for the AXP2101 or the AXP192, so nothing would switch it and the panel would stay in reset. Use the Arduino, ESP-IDF or MicroPython export. |
| ESP-IDF (C) | Espressif's own framework: esp_lcd, the component registry and idf.py, with nothing of Arduino in it. Start a project |

Also on the board
- Internal I2C (GPIO 21 / 22) - SDA GPIO 21, SCL GPIO 22
- Port A (Grove, GPIO 32 / 33) - SDA GPIO 32, SCL GPIO 33
- Power - AXP2101, at 0x34, on Internal I2C (GPIO 21 / 22)
The panel's supply (ALDO4), the panel's and touch panel's reset (ALDO2) and the backlight (BLDO1) are this chip's: it is started before the panel. - Power ALDO4 (power chip supply) is set high at boot - Panel, touch and SD card supply (ALDO4, 3.3 V)
- Power BLDO1 (power chip supply) is set high at boot - Backlight (BLDO1)
The preset adds these to the Hardware tab with the board, so a sensor can go straight onto the connector.
Check your revision. This is the Core2 v1.1, with an AXP2101 power chip; the first Core2 (v1.0) has an AXP192 - choose the other preset for that one (the chip's id says which: 0x4A at register 0x03 is an AXP2101, 0x03 an AXP192). The panel's supply, reset and backlight are driven through the AXP2101 as LovyanGFX's Core2 start-up drives them; the backlight is on at 3.0 V and does not dim. MicroPython starts the chip before the panel too, on the touch panel I2C bus; ESPHome has no component for it and is not offered. Compiled; not seen on a panel by LCD Wizard.
Designing for it in LCD Wizard
- Choose M5Stack Core2 v1.1 (AXP2101) on the Hardware tab (or use the button above) and every pin on this page is filled in. The export writes the sketch,
lcd_pins.h, the LovyanGFX configuration,lv_conf.handplatformio.ini- a project that builds for this board as it comes. - The FT6236 / FT6336U is capacitive and needs no calibration. The firmware resets it and checks it answers on every boot.
- With PSRAM the LVGL memory pool can live there, leaving internal RAM for everything else.
- Screens are designed for 320 x 240 px in either orientation, with LVGL 9 or LVGL 8.
The parts
ILI9342 / ILI9342C. Landscape-native sibling of the ILI9341. Used by M5Stack Core / Core2.
FT6236 / FT6336U. Register-compatible with the FT6206. Very common on 2.8"-3.5" capacitive TFTs.
ESP32 (WROOM / WROVER). No native RGB parallel peripheral - use SPI or an 8/16-bit i80 bus.
LovyanGFX. Widest panel and bus coverage, DMA on ESP32. Configured with a C++ config class.
The pinout on one page
Every pin above, laid out to print and keep beside the bench. Generated from this preset, so it says exactly what the designer writes into lcd_pins.h.

The same pins as data - board.json and pins.csv - are in the open pinout dataset on GitHub, free to reuse under CC BY 4.0.
From the people who made it
The board’s own documentation. Pinouts on vendor pages do sometimes disagree with the hardware in front of you - where this page and that one differ, trust your board and tell us.
