Leaving SquareLine Studio? Bring every project with you, free

Live on the site

A browser tool. It converts designs and makes no firmware, so there is no board run to report. Tried on 53 real SquareLine projects.

SquareLine .spj files converted to LCD Wizard designs
The converting is done in your browser.

Lots of people have years of screens sat in SquareLine Studio. Moving tools shouldn't mean drawing them all again, so the first thing we built for anyone thinking of switching is a converter. It's free, it runs in your browser, and it doesn't ask for an account.

How it works for you

  • Open the SquareLine converter.
  • Drop in a project folder, a pile of files, a zip, or a folder full of projects. Up to 250 MB at once.
  • Each .spj becomes an LCD Wizard design, with its pictures and fonts. Backup and autosave copies are left out.
  • Take the designs away as files (one zip for the lot), or press Open in the designer and carry on where you left off.

It picks a board for you, too: the first preset whose panel is your design's size in any of its four turns, a round one for a round design, or a custom board at that size if nothing matches.

It tells you what didn't come across

No converter is perfect, and pretending otherwise would just move the pain to later. So every project comes with a plain list of anything that didn't convert, and one project failing never stops the rest. We ran it over 53 real SquareLine projects before letting anyone near it.

And then?

Then it's an LCD Wizard design like any other. It exports to Arduino, ESP-IDF, MicroPython or ESPHome, it can use any of our board presets, and Preview runs it in the browser. Signing up only comes in when you want to save it to an account or export code.

If you'd like the side-by-side first, the SquareLine Studio comparison sets out what each tool does, with sources and the date we checked. We still rate SquareLine. We just think you'll like it here.

Free to start, in your browser
