Spectrum Analyser Showcase: four styles from one microphone

by jonathan harrocks

Four Spectrum analysers on the LCDWIKI ES3C35P (3.5", 320 x 480, ESP32-S3), all fed from the board's own ES8311 microphone. Each one shows a different setup of the same widget. 1. Bars in a row: 12 wide bars with round tips. They run red to cyan from left to right and go yellow at the top when loud. White peak marks hold for a moment, then fall. 2. Half circle: 24 bars on a 180-degree arc, drawn as LED-style steps. They run orange to green round the arc, with small square peak marks. 3. Both ways: 32 thin bars that grow up and down from a centre line. They run violet to cyan, and a whole bar turns pink when it is loud. 4. Ring: 16 bars round a small hole. They run yellow to red round the ring and fade to white at the tips. Every analyser covers 60 Hz to 8 kHz on a log scale and redraws 20 times a second. The analyser can listen to the music player instead of the microphone. Every setting is explained at https://lcdwizard.com/docs/widget-spectrum. The Spectrum analyser is a Pro widget. This is an Arduino export with LVGL 9, and it has run on the board.

About this design

Notes from the author

Four Spectrum analysers on one 3.5" ESP32-S3 screen, all listening to the board's microphone: bars in a row, a half circle in LED steps, a line growing both ways, and a small ring.

Using it

Open a copy in the designer and it is yours to edit: restyle the screens, move it to another board, and export the Arduino (C++) project. Designing is free, and a copy needs no account. Open the designer.
